The week of discoveries......

That's what it has been!! A week of discoveries. So many good things to share.....first - Pinterest - it's for me! Okay, I've tried FaceBook - It had it's good things, but for me? Can't say it was a program that did it for me. Tried Tumblr, but to be honest?, I just didn't get it! I know many of you out there are huge fans of this program and I actually follow a couple of them, but again, just didn't do it for me. Google circles sounded way too labor intensive before I even got started. Then I found Pinterest! It's true, I'm an image junkie, but I'm also into many other things and now I can put them all in one place. It just makes sense to me. If I love it and want to refer to it again, I can pinit! My boards are in progress, but what this has done for me is to give me a place to organize my head!!

Loving my iphone more and more each day. Finding out things about this little guy that are fitting right into how I live my life. It's just fabulous! Things I thought I wouldn't use, I'm finding that they are replacing scattering things all over the place. I click 'on' and there is my world sitting in my hand. Wow, who knew! And on the oopsiedoodle (my brother's word) side, the phone goes to my studio and is looking like it, but hey, pristine is not my MO, so that's okay! A bit of paint, pencil, etc., doesn't hurt anything. It's like crappy looking luggage, nobody else really wants it! AND my newest app is the 'hipstamatic' camera app. My oh my, do I love it! I know there are other fans out there and I can certainly see why.

And now for a bit of art! You know my waxy creations I've been doing?, well, they mostly fell apart - bad fusing and probably not a good surface, etc, etc., BUT!!!, after peeling off the wax that cracked, the surfaces that I was left with are WAY BETTER!! It would be almost worth going through this whole process again to get this kind of material to collage with. AND I have found the best glue - It's a PVA white glue and it is heavy duty - reminds me of some glue I used in Canada a couple of years ago which I was never able to find when I got back home. Since I'm not product oriented and am really about just messing around in my 'art lab' these are the things I love to discover. The photo below is a detail of new work I'm in the process of doing. These are pieces ripped from the original wax pieces and the wax peeled off. There is still a very thin coat of bees wax so it's still waxy heaven! On my way to better fusing and more discoveries!

Detail of work in progress, mixed media collage on board with hints of bees wax!

just added this little video I shot with my, wait for it, IPHONE!! and it shows me pulling apart one of the waxed pieces - It's a weeny video, but you get the idea......

love this peek at your work in progress! It's delicious and I love that smudge of lipstick in it!! I love your passion for life. It's contagious. Can't think of a better thing to catch!

I've been on pinterest a couple of times and sort of liked it, I mean I loved what I saw there but didn't quite get how it worked. Must go back for a look as you have got my interest up with the "pinning" I use tumblr in this way to save images that I love for inspiration.

happy week to you!

Just read a post about pinterest today for the first time. Must be the universe holding up a note for me to read. Love your fearless and optimistic art journey; with that attitude you'll never go wrong!

Wow! Wow!

You have so many great things going on in addition to your great process. Thank you for sharing this. You are way better at techno stuff than I am. Will have to check out Pinterest.

Love this image. Really strong.

Love your energy too.

I so admire you for stating that the wax wasn't fused well, and sharing the deconstruction with your online fans. My respect for you went up some major percentage points just now.
And I agree with you: the undersurface hints of yumminess.
with admiration,
DJ

Great to see the deconstructing process, Jeane and also great to hear your voice.

Loved the video, although that small format made me feel a bit like I was peeping out from inside a drawer!! This looks like an archeological dig. Buried treasure. Dying to see what you end up with.

You may be the only one who can convince me to climb out of my anti-tech cave..your enthusiasm knows no bounds!
It's not so good when art falls off the canvas..but you make a path of everything!!

Always fun to visit your postings...glad to hear what you are learning from iphone...yes, a bit like peeking out from a drawer (Annie's words) but liked seeing your hands at work. Pinterest; just might have to check it out. Do you still flickr?

good morning Carole, thank you so much, well, pinterest, yes, I was a bit confused at first and then I stumbled around long enough to figure it out and it just fits me like the others didn't - and your tumblr page is one I follow - it's like you are in my head, I'm addicted to it!! xo

thank you Robin, what a nice thing to day - well there is definitely something for everyone in cyberspace and I love sharing the things that work for me :)

Hi Melinda, it's coming along isn't it! you got the result of my loving my new iphone so much - how easy to shoot a 30sec video and shoot it off to an art buddy!!!I'm liking this piece so much more - it's like digging for treasure xo

oh, god DJ, I make so much crap in my studio!!!! stuff falls apart all the time, but, wow! do I ever love making it and finding the things that do work - how else do we discover and keep things fresh - if there are a bazillion people doing encaustic work and doing it well, do I want to ride that train?, no, how can I make it mine, give it my distinct signature, take wax somewhere different, and on and on - that's what interests me :)

Hey Noela, thank you, glad you stopped by :)

oh Annie, you made me laugh so hard, yes, it does appear like you are watching from a drawer - sigh - well get ready to watch more tiny teeny wee videos from the drawer xoxo

good morning Robyn! yes, Pinterest! love it! apparently you are on there too pinning your amazing cyber finds - your tumblr page is one I follow also! it's just amazing - you and Carole from Zendot - will look for you on Pinterest xox

actually Lyn, I think Pinterest may be something you would love - if you can figure it out and get it set up and I can see you doing some amazing boards, miss you xo

yes it does appear like looking out from a drawer doesn't it Maggie! so funny, yes I still do flickr - I use it as an archive for my work - I have years of work up there - it's been a great help to me...xo

I look forward to seeing how you see things through the Hipstamatic viewfinder

good morning Rosie, oh, yes, pinterest does it for me - I'm not interested in following or connecting, I just want a place to keep the things that roll around in my head or tumble all over my desk and workspace - ah, the iphone - my brother who poo pooed cell phones and basically the world of tech, got an iphone several months back and just couldn't stop talking about it - he calls it magic, so that pretty much sold me on making the leap - I use it more and more and more - move it to the top of your list of must haves! xo

oh, Daryl, I thing the hipstamatic app rocks - the color saturation is wonderful...I've just begun learning all the little bits and pieces of it - saw some of yours posted the other day - yummy xo

Oh,,,,that header is just so yummy!
Creme Brulee for all!

Loved your not so weeny video!
And very much, I like it when you say what your work ISN'T about, as much as what it is.
Inspiration abounds,I love what shows through after you peel. thank you Jeane!

Jeane, the iphone is going to be an amazing addition to your art process. I loved the wee video!

Using Pinterest as you plan to sounds like a great way for you to do it. I am following a few people who post art but the main reason I joined was so my daughter could show me her pins. Once I started peeking around I started following and then some people started following me. It sounds as though it's quite addictive to some people. Thankfully I'm such a visual and tactile person I need to also see and feel things in real.

thanks for sharing Jeane.

good morning Babs, isn't the under stuff just way more interesting Babs?, loving this whole clumsy process and I agree, the yumminess of that wax in the header - it does it for me xo

hello Carole, maybe I was the last person to know about Pinterest, it seems everyone is already a user, but so glad I did find it - I'm not following or connecting or anything like that, just using it as a place to store images with some order..and yes, the iphone is becoming another very useful tool for sure - it's so immediate and that is how I work so it fits right in xo
