This has been a fabulous Labor Day Weekend - warm and sunny everyday, nothing on the schedule but painting - my energy is returning and so is my focus - when I'm tired I can't keep my focus on my work - my mind wanders, mostly to wanting to sleep or just stare off into space or to just wander around the yard, grazing on blackberries and watching the birds do all their busy bird things. Painting takes huge amounts of energy, not just physical, but spiritual and mental - the thought of trying to wield a large piece of board around in my small space was just too much, no less the painting and then the CLEAN UP!! But I'm back and loving it! I'm working on the new board and finding it awful - it doesn't take the paint like my old fav board, it's bendy and in all ways just an unsatisfying surface to work on, but work on it I do.....it will have to do until I can get out of here and make the hour trek to another home depot and hope that they will have it.......anyway, this is mixed media on crappy board 36x24........'The Sugar Bowl'
Five days into September - yikes! We are rocketing into Autumn in a few weeks - hope you are all enjoying your three day weekend.

I really like this image.

Mysterious and wonderful. I'm so glad it's been such a good weekend.
Hope the rest of the week is just as productive and good.
Love this piece! And you are so right - working in my studio - being creative takes huge amounts of energy! A lot of folks don't understand that - happy fall! On to cooler temps & more energy!
Can't believe it is 5 days into Sept but Aug was really long so why not? Enjoy seeing your work...always.
When I don't work, I get antsy which makes it even harder to focus. Getting into a routine helps center that scattered energy, but everyone needs to drift away every so often.... (my alibi)
Glad to hear you are feeling more energized. Sorry to hear about the crappy board. The Sugar Bowl is so different from your other work. I find it very heavy or maybe I'm just sensitive to the fatigue you've been feeling. Have a fabulous week!
I like your new painting- glad to know you are getting back into the swing of things. You are so right creativity is work and most people just don't realize it until they put thier own heart and soul into a piece. And if you don't have a place to be messy and keep your work out well that's a problem all by itself. However despite the work involved when I get lost in my creations and lose all track of time; I am at peace as I can in no other way, which makes it worth it.

have thought about this many times, jeane - how much energy painting takes...
xoxo
New board, old board....good work. I love this piece. I know what you mean about the energy thing. I think sometimes we all deserve a few hours of gazing into space!!
the sense of depth here .. really draws me in .. I want this one ...
The board may be crappy but the painting is very compelling. Gald you'e got your 'groove' back! -sus
thank you Dixie, so glad you stopped by :)
I do to Melinda! thanks, it feels good to be painting again xo
that's right Judy, alot of people don't understand the energy it takes, but then I don't have a clue about what it takes to build airplanes either so I guess all things are equal in the end - thanks for coming by :)
I know Maggie!! it seems like I was just watching our trees start to leaf out and now the leaves are turning and starting to fall - so love some of the new work you have been showing xo
hello Robin, yes, antsy, that's a good way to describe it - well my new meds are definitely starting to kick in so I'm very happy about that :)
Hi Carole, thanks, hope you have a fabulous week also - heaviness starting to lift - good to see you here :)
Johnina, good morning, and yes, I relate to losing track of time doing what I love - and it is very difficult when you don't have a designated space to work - I was in that situation for years and now I have that space, albeit, small, I'm thankful - glad you stopped by :)
gobs and gobs of energy Lynnie!! oh, I'm so loving your people - each one an individual and I'm so mad I didn't get my hands on that one fabulous guy on your sidebar xxoo
good morning Annie - icky crappy board for sure, but too bad! sigh - we have blackberries everywhere now and to pick them and eat them as I'm walking around is like a gift I wait for all year - warm, sweet and juicy jewels popped into my mouth in that afternoon sun xo
good morning Daryl, thank you - it can be yours, albeit it will take months to dry, ha! xxoo
me too Sus, so happy to be feeling better, thank you, good to see you here :)
Yes, I think you have your focus back...love this piece!
So true...'rocketing into Autumn'.
Monolithic and mysterious... a lovely image.
Hi Jeane, I think you're right, it DOES takes energy in all forms-spritual, physical and mental. I find it difficult most days to have all 3 cooperating and on the same page! But when they do...it's bliss. You can make crappy board look pretty flippin' amazing! Really enjoy your painting. The humidity is very low here now--loving being outside! Happy week!
This painting looks so 3-dimensional and voluminous, it's fascinating. And we all have to take a break sometimes just to get a fresh perspective...too bad it makes us feel guilty!
Hi Mary Ann, yes! I think I do too! thank you, we are getting some amazing late summer days here xo
oh, I love your description Jo - monolithic really thrills me, thank you :)
lots of energy Chris, no? and yes, getting all three together in one package can be a bit of a challenge sometimes - thank you, glad the humidity has let up for you :)
hello Frannie, thank you, so happy you stopped by :)
Crappy board or no, this is lovely.
I am glad that you are feeling better and having fun painting!
xoxo
good morning Annie, I'm glad I'm feeling better too, thank you! :) so happy you came by
Hi Jeane,I think the best thing to say, is the work is touching feelings in people. And if your touching FEELINGS your spirit is touching people,
Love this piece.
"mixed media on crappy board" hah! love that you are keeping your sense of humor.
good morning David and thank you, what a wonderful thing to say :)
