inner connection..............
I haven't done a progression in awhile, so I thought this would be an interesting one. The painting below I finished about two months ago. It's a mixed media piece on paper. Bees wax, oil, oil pastel. It never really did it for me. At the time I knew I would come back to it. It sat on my, "not doing it for me" stack until a couple of weeks ago.
I picked it up and wiped as much off as possible. Then I took my iron and ironed it into oblivion. The picture below is what it looked like when I made my first new marks on it.
I worked on it for a couple of days and got this. This does it for me. This feels genuine and attached to the inside of me. That's what it has to be for me to be finished. I find it interesting that the same colors and some of the old structure ended up on the finished piece. The difference is that I went deeper
I hope you all had a wonderful creative weekend - I did! Have a great week everyone.

Perfect description of authenticity! Love it Jeane!
Awesome - Love the color
I love your way of describing what works for you and what doesn't-- "this does it for me" -- and I often paint over old paintings and try to get some of the old to come through.
luverly .... it surely did resolve to a deeper level .... nice work >>> Gina
Fascinating that some of the old came through with the new. Just love these rock colours.
It does it for me too as well as the one in your sidebar, under work in progress 11/20/09. Thanks again for sharing your process, jeane.
Jeane, love seeing that you wiped it all away with the iron and it still came back. Paintings are so full of themselves...sometimes they are hard to control, so mostly I have to let them have their way. You've made a satisfying result. yes, happy thanksgiving to you and yours also!
True, there are similarities, but it feels like everything has changed. To me the first one was about 1, where the second piece is about several people. The circle is dynamic, so some interesting and mysterious interaction going on between them. I don't think that's your intention, but I can't help but see a story.
I like what Shayla says, yes its moved; moves; there is almost dance bodily, though the abstract i adore of your style.
and my sweet : to say this I am rippling awake,
"This does it for me. This feels genuine and attached to the inside of me. That's what it has to be for me.."
as if signew tissue could
stretch out and hold us to our creations... ah.
.
I am going to use this phrase today; this does it for me.
.
ok be silly now, hang upside down and see a new perspective grinning back at you .
Yes, it works for me too...the scratching between and the feeling of behind and forward. I also like the two works in progress in your sidebar. You have been in a zone this year and it has been sensational to watch!
good morning Leslie - thanks! :)
hello Louis and welcome - thank you, it's a color palette that just never seems to go away - I checked out your site and really like your work :)
Hi Donna - well I have to be able to walk into my studio, see the piece and say, wow, I did that?
Hi Gina - thanks, deep is better.
I know Annie - it seems I always have a similar structure underneath, but still so much of the old was left behind - interesting :)
good morning Robyn - thanks - actually the one in the sidebar I finished yesterday and it made some really wonderful changes :)
I was obviously working through something for sure even though it was months in between - thanks Maggie
Hi Shayla - Oh, I think there is always a story going on even though at the time it eludes me - I like your thoughts about it xxo
mansuetude - how did you know I do hang upside down often - gets the blood to my brain cells, which need all the blood they can get that's for sure - I have a slant board that I've used for years - thanks for your thoughts on this piece :)
Hey Mary Ann - thanks - the two in the sidebar are actually finished now and will be posting after the holidays
:)
i thought your secret was coffee... haha! cool.
oh, and coffee for sure! Ha!
I still dont 'get' it but I do love the end results (tho sometimes I want to yell STOP!!!!!!!!!!) xox
It's really the only thing that matters..telling the truth from the inside out..
so strong..it feels sculpted!
I love your colors and your connectedness to your work. I can really relate to your comment as my work is not done until I like completely and the feeling is right. This is beautiful!
This totally works for me too. It is so organic and tactile.
Yep, you got something this time. This is figural--powerful. Very nicely done, Jeane.
Hi Jeane,
I like the second version better too. And the reds in your WIP, playing with Mylar (whatever that is!). I always enjoy the fun way you write!
Your work often reminds me of bones and your second version of this is much "bonier". And that I like! Wonderful!
LOL! good morning Daryl - don't feel alone - I don't get it most of the time either xxo
good morning Lyn - can't seem to stay away from the 3demsional world (theatre) it shows up here often xxo
Hi Tonya, thank you - yes, it has to be felt doesn't it :)
Hi Z - thanks and organic is definitely your way xxo
hello Elizabeth, so nice to see you here - thank you :)
good morning Derrick and thanks - mylar is a bit like a think layer of plastic - I'm finding this work very interesting - it has so many possibilities :)
Kate! good morning! funny you should say that - about the bones I mean because I just recieved an email fron a poet who was inspired by one of my paintings to write a poem and it was about bones - will send it to you, I think you will like it xxo
I love that I see many figures in this. Just enough,,,the essence.
I really enjoyed this progression piece; I love hearing about the process as much as seeing the final result. There's a greater fluidity in the final piece; I think it's great!
good morning Babs and thank you - the forms are starting to take more figurative shapes - I'm sure my figures will return :)
hello Kristeena and welcome - thank you so much and I think you are right about the fluidity - please come again :)
good to watch the breakdown and buildup. going deeper, brave and necessary. worth it.
The words you used to describe when a piece is "right" were splendidly expressed. This piece is definitely right: you have flawless instincts in regards to your work.
hello Velma and welcome - thank you so much! :)
Hi Carol - what a very gracious comment - thank you :)
Fascinating to see where this started and how it ended. A what a fantastic ending. A great piece!
